Dr. Peter Megal is an excellent advocate for personal metabolic and cardiovascular health. I attended his PhD defense and was amazed at the depth and breadth of his research and understanding of the mechanisms of the dietary impacts on diabetes. Since then he’s made personal medicinal and dietary changes that have reversed some of his coronary artery disease, and maintained his health at the high level sufficient to set a national bicycling record.
As an aging male with the goal of living another 25 years, I joined Peter’s support group. He monitors the the publications, keeps well informed, and makes clear presentations on usable results from them. While I’ve not attempted all of Peter’s life style changes nor can justify CAD radiography, I’ve already dropped my total cholesterol by ~20% with corresponding improvements in HDL, LDL, and triglycerides.
